Play in the NHL or be a rock star? Quite the dilemma...
At 17 years old, I figured I had my career choices narrowed down. But with a knock or two to my "coconut" and no band to play in, I had to carve a new path.
Many people know me as a Professional Hockey Consultant. For over 15 years, I have worked with players and coaches, stressing creativity. It's hard to put into words how it feels to see the players you work with achieving their dreams of playing in the NHL, winning a Women's World Championship or reaching that Tier 1 Atom Tryout game.
At 31 years old, I joined my first band. I had the opportunity to start slinging ax with Bryce Borden & The Dead Hitchhikers. (Look them up, they still gig regularly in Calgary.) One day soon I will record and release an album of my own work.
I have always had a passion for branding and communications. With my previous jobs as a Program Manager or Marketing Coordinator, my Corel Draw skills were green at best.
In 2013, I embarked on a journey to expand my design knowledge base. I attended the Digital Design Program at Vancouver Film School. It was here that I learned about the design process. With my previous work, I had a tendency to work in circles and never achieve the results I was looking for. Now I have the tools and structure to create more efficiently.
Attending VFS has has helped me to develop additional skills in interactive and motion design . It has allowed me to branch out and create; or troubleshoot problems that I would have previously had to contract out. Thanks for visiting the site and please feel free to contact me below. Take care.
